Data protection notice & consent

Purpose & voluntariness: The app serves solely your own self-reflection on presentation and rhetoric skills. It is not an assessment or monitoring tool. Use is entirely voluntary; no disadvantage arises from not using it.

What data: Your uploaded video and the results computed from it (incl. audio track, transcript, metrics, annotated video, charts). Your email address is used solely to deliver the results link (no user account, no login). Optional and only if actively selected: emotion analysis and AI coaching.

Where processed: The video analysis runs on a server at the Centre for Higher Education Teaching (ZHL) of the University of Bayreuth. Website and files are hosted on behalf of the university by Hetzner Online GmbH in a German data centre (Falkenstein) — processing under Art. 28 GDPR. Video, images and the audio track never leave this infrastructure.

AI coaching (optional): Only if you choose AI coaching with the provider “Claude” are a transcript excerpt and computed metrics sent to Anthropic (USA) — never the video, images, audio, name or email. Anthropic does not store this data and does not use it for AI training (Zero Data Retention). Alternatively, a local model is available where nothing leaves the university.

Emotion analysis (optional): A neural network estimates emotion categories from facial expressions. It is an approximation, not a psychological diagnosis, and performs no biometric identification. The EU AI Act (Reg. 2024/1689) classifies emotion recognition in education as sensitive — your consent is therefore separate and voluntary.

Storage & deletion: All data is automatically deleted after no more than 14 days. You can trigger immediate deletion yourself at any time via the “Delete data” button on your feedback page. Only an anonymous statistics line without any personal reference remains.

Legal basis & your rights: Processing is based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR); emotion analysis and AI coaching are separate, voluntary consents. You may withdraw consent at any time with future effect (most easily by deleting your data). You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with the Bavarian Data Protection Commissioner (BayLfD).
